Russia ramped up its attacks on Ukraine over the weekend as President Donald Trump has voiced frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin for not moving quickly enough to implement a limited ceasefire deal agreed to by both countries.

Some shit you should know before you read: If you’re unaware, Russia and Ukraine agreed to a partial ceasefire focused on stopping attacks on energy infrastructure and fighting in the Black Sea. Since then, both sides have accused each other of breaking the deal—and the violence hasn’t stopped. Russia keeps dropping guided bombs and launching drones almost every night, while Ukraine has stepped up its deep-strike drone game, hitting Russian military factories hundreds of miles away.

What’s going on now: According to Ukrainian officials, Russia launched a ballistic missile into Kyiv early Sunday, killing one person and injuring at least three others.. Freedom TV’s newsroom got wrecked in the strike—marking the second time Russia has hit the state-funded broadcaster since February. Over in Kupyansk, a glide bomb tore through a residential neighborhood, wounding two and causing serious damage. The city’s mostly evacuated now as Russian troops slowly advance from the north.

Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched 23 missiles and 109 drones overnight. Thirteen missiles and 40 drones were shot down, and 53 others reportedly malfunctioned or crashed without hitting targets. Strikes caused damage in multiple regions, including Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, and Mykolaiv. To the contrary, Russia’s Defense Ministry said it shot down 11 Ukrainian drones over Rostov and Kursk.

In a video address last night, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that over the past week alone, Russia has used “more than 1,460 guided aerial bombs, nearly 670 attack drones, and more than 30 missiles.” He added, “These attacks are Putin’s response to all international diplomatic efforts. There can be no easing of pressure. It is worth directing all forces to ensure security and bring peace closer.”

He also pushed back on what he saw as weak reactions from international partners, calling out US Ambassador Bridget Brink for not naming Russia in her condemnation of Friday’s missile strike on Kryvyi Rih. “Unfortunately, the response from the U.S. Embassy is surprisingly disappointing—such a strong country, such a strong people, and yet such a weak reaction,” Zelenskyy said on Telegram.

This all comes as Ukraine continues long-range drone strikes on Russian industry. On April 4, Ukrainian drones hit two major facilities in Russia—an explosives factory in Samara and a fiber-optics plant in Saransk. The SBU confirmed responsibility, calling them “legal military targets.” No casualties were reported, but Ukrainian sources say the attacks disrupted key parts of Russia’s drone production chain.

In addition, Russia’s Ministry of Defense accused Ukraine of using two drones to strike low-pressure gas pipelines in the towns of Belaya Beryozka (Russia’s Bryansk region).
